ABOUT ME
A brief introduction
I am a specialist in baby, child and family portraiture based in Kent. I only work with natural light and I am passionate about capturing beautiful moments in an unobtrusive way.
Contrary to what you would expect, ‘Renee’ is my daughter’s middle name and it was also my grandmother’s name. Naming something which is so important to me after them felt like an obvious choice.
My story
I studied English Literature with Creative Writing at University and later went on to train as a Primary School Teacher. Photography was never part of the plan, but after graduating I went travelling, and was inspired to buy a semi-professional camera on my return. I taught myself how to use it but it was during my time working as a windsurfing instructor in Egypt, that I truly discovered how passionate I was.
I began to take photos of fellow windsurfers. Clare Edmead Photography was born and I began working with local activity centres and professional windsurfers and was amazed the first time I saw my photos in print.
I decided to take Clare Edmead Photography to Greece the following Summer with Neilson Active holidays to capture a larger variety of activities and work with families which was hugely appealing to me. After two successful Summers offering holiday and lifestyle photography, I expanded to other hotels in Greece and built a team of talented photographers to work with.
Throughout my time working abroad, it has always been family photography that I have enjoyed the most and I consider myself very lucky to have met so many wonderful people and captured so many families having fun on holiday.
Photography and motherhood
Since the births of my children, Esme and Remy, I have wanted to dedicate more time to photographing families in the UK. Becoming a mother has given me a greater appreciation of the art form and how important good photos are. From the early days and onwards I have captured my children at both important milestones and everyday moments.
I’ve discovered that I am at my happiest when I have my camera in my hand; laying on the floor or climbing up a tree to get something unique. Being able to photograph other families in addition to my own is not only a great privilege but also something which I am hugely passionate about. The contentment I feel when I get that ‘shot’ is indescribable.

CE Photo - Neilson Holidays
Clare Edmead Photography eventually became CE Photo and is now run by myself and my business partner, Lee. We operate out of 7 European hotels across Spain, Greece, and Croatia with Neilson Active holidays. We train and induct over 20 photographers each Summer to create thousands of stunning photos for families on their holidays including action image and portrait services.
I’m still fully involved in making a success of these products and I feel extremely proud to be a part of creating so many memories for the lovely families that holiday with Neilson each year.
