Family Photography in West Malling, Kent

Anna was looking for some natural family photos. Nothing too posed but most importantly some that included her. She was quick to admit that she was the family photographer which meant that she was often absent from photos taken during time spent all together as a family. She asked me to come to her home in West Malling to spend the morning with them all and capture family life.

We began our family photography session with coffee in the kitchen whilst welly boots and rain macs were gathered for a muddy walk to the local park. Benji wanted to ride his bike and Sienna was eager to walk so that she could splash in any puddles that we encountered! At the park, Benji showed me how high he could go on the swings and Sienna did some balancing with Daddy’s help whilst carefully crossing the ‘wibble, wobble bridge’. The next adventure included throwing the ball for Olly and then later finding a way through the leaf-covered walkway under the trees on the edge of the park. It was an unusually foggy day and this has resulted in some rather interesting photos: a mysterious quality and backgrounds that are both opaque and light giving focus to the subject(s).

When little legs were too tired for any more running, we headed back home where Sienna and Benji were keen to share all of their wonderful toys with me. I loved capturing the concentration on Sienna and Benji’s faces as they played with their wooden train set and explored different track pieces, creating various bends and loops across the living room floor. Next, the children shared one of their favourite books with me; The Wonkey Donkey in Benji’s room. 

The photoshoot ended where it had begun, in the kitchen. Sienna was pattering around excitedly on the kitchen table, surrounded by flowers that had previously been neatly arranged in a vase!
